Photovoltaic panel from the Carrizo Solar Power Plant (1983 - 1994), the first commercial and industrial scale photovoltaic solar power plant to be connected to the utility grid in the United States. Operated by the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company (ARCO), this 5.2 megawatt array was dismantled in 1994. It's panels were sold to secondary markets and became popular in early DIY home solar projects across the country.
